Students and staff at Sponne School in Towcester are celebrating another excellent set of GCSE results this year with many individuals achieving outstanding grades.  It has obviously been an unprecedented year with the cancellation of the summer exams for students and results being produced by a combination of the best exam board moderated and Centre Assessed Grades.

This pattern of exceptional performance has continued for a tenth successive year with students attaining highly and showing better than average progress compared to their starting points at the end of Year 6.

Among the many elated students celebrating today were Lucy Underwood and Isabella Alphonso who both gained 10 Grade 9’s. Daisy Tallis,  Finn Tyson, Anna Woodman,Cara Mannix, Georgia Corcoran and James Cooper  gained at least 9  grade 8/9’s whilst Ben Clarke, Matthew Evans, Hannah Fowles, Ross Baker, Aria Lowden and Gabriella Perez gained at least 8 grade 8/9’s.  Anna Brennan-McCord, Tom Fell and  Tom Mortimer gained at least 7 top grades.

In addition many others achieved multiple top grades, which is an outstanding outcome.

Headteacher Mr Iain Massey said:  “We are really proud of our students who have done so well in gaining these excellent results in what has been exceptionally difficult circumstances this year.  No matter what their starting point when they arrive, the majority have made exceptional progress and along with all my staff and Governors I would like to congratulate them for working so hard and gaining what they deserved. Well done to all our students”.

Mrs Warner, Progress Learning Leader for Yr 11, said:  "I am delighted that so many students have achieved outstanding results. I want to congratulate all the students on their hard work and resilience in what has been a difficult year due to the Pandemic; they have been a credit to themselves, their families and the school. I would like to take this opportunity to remind them all that they are more than just their set of results and that going forward all the skills they have learnt along the way will hold them in good stead for their next stage of learning and beyond. I wish them all the very best in the future”.
