Hesketh Learning Resource Centre
There are many resources in the HLRC comprising of books, magazines, newspapers and DVDs. In addition, the HLRC has 17 computers, networked and with internet access. These are supplemented by 30 computers from the adjoining room C4 at break, lunchtime and after school.
The HLRC supports individual students and teachers by providing resources on a wide range of topics. These may be used for class projects in lessons or for coursework and personal study. Current magazines and newspapers are available to give up to date news, views and information across a range of subjects and interests.
Year 7 and 8 students have Library lessons throughout the first year. Other year groups receive Information Skills lessons on a variety of different subjects, including Careers and Geography
Several key events take place each year in the HLRC and students’ work from all departments is displayed on a regular basis. Events include Book Week with visiting authors and lunchtime readings, Kids Lit Quiz and the Carnegie Book Award Shadowing Project.
