On Wednesday 25th April the Design and Technology department were proud to host the regional finals for the Rotary Young Designer competition.
The six entrants in the GCSE category were Jasmine Bond, Tom Cartwright, Maddie Chapman, Luke Harris, Jacob Moreton and Millie Rees. In the A level category we saw work from Beanna Field, Emi Johnson, Becca Kimber, Beth Loosely and Freya Robinson.
The students displayed their final product alongside a comprehensive design portfolio. The quality of the work presented was amazing and just goes to demonstrate the level of talent, imagination and sheer effort our Design students here at Sponne have.
Finalists were whittled down and in the GCSE category, Tom and Millie had to battle it out for first and second place. Whilst in the A level category, it was a close call between Becca and Beanna. Finally, after interviewing each of the four students and further deliberation, Millie, with her Ladybird Sauce Caddies and Becca, with her Sweet Dispenser were chosen as overall winners.
The finals take place on Saturday 16th June at De Montfort University, where Millie and Becca will again display their work and compete against students nationally. We wish both students every success with the competition and their continuing Design studies.
Well done to all our competitors – we are very proud of you all!
