  • Rotary Young Designer

    On Wednesday 25th April the Design and Technology department were proud to host the regional finals for the Rotary Young Designer competition.

    The six entrants in the GCSE category were Jasmine Bond, Tom Cartwright, Maddie Chapman, Luke Harris, Jacob Moreton and Millie Rees. In the A level category we saw work from Beanna Field, Emi Johnson, Becca Kimber, Beth Loosely and Freya Robinson.

  • Iona Smith – 7RW

    Iona has played football for Northampton Town Girls and Ladies and for past 4 years and converted to a full-time goalkeeper at the start of this season. As well as training with the Cobblers twice a week, she also attends weekly specialised training with a company called GK ICONs - who run national goalkeeper schools which are led by Professional keepers and coaching staff.

  • Well done Caitlin Wreford – Dance Competition

    In her solo performance she came first, her acro duet they came first which also came first overall in her age category.  In the group dances they had two 3rd places, one 4th and a 1st.

    With her acro duet and the group dance “Fabulous” they made it through to the grand final along with 14 other finalists.  The duet came in a brilliant 7th place and the group dance came first.  She came away with 3 trophies and 9 medals overall with many more trophies for the group dances.

  • Spring Concert 2018

    It has been an exceptionally busy term for many of the Sponne musicians with combined county and school commitments. The term was rounded off on Tuesday evening with our Spring concert featuring all the Sponne music enhancement groups. Over 150 musicians took part and performed to a full house. Well done! Congratulations also to the members of Sponne Brass Band, Jazz Orchestra, String Orchestra, String Ensemble, Sponnaissance and Sponnaissance Reborn who took part in the Regional Festival of Music for Youth on 22nd and 24th March. The performances were very well


    Incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.

    Sponne took a group of year 7 students to this event on 20th March 2018. The students participated in a range of interactive workshops and activities which were supported by students from the University of Northampton. The students participated in some physical challenges including a climbing wall and a strategic caving activity.

    All Student did really well and put a lot of effort into their posters, please do praise all the students in the 3 groups who did the work over a weekend 7KMS, 7RW and a few of 8AE

  • World Book Day

    World Book Day went ahead on Thursday 1st March – despite the snow! 

    Many students from Years 7, 8 and 9 made a fantastic effort with their book character costumes.  Staff also took part; with the English Department dressing as characters from Roald Dahl books; Drama as Alice in Wonderland and the Queen of Hearts; History as Mr and Mrs Potato Head, and the LRC staff were Roald Dahl’s witches.

  • Towcester Music and Performing Arts Centre

    NMPAT have recently run a joint project between the three NMPAT Saturday Centres of Towcester, Queens Cross and Brackley in conjunction with the City of London Sinfonia to give the students at those centres an experience of playing in a 100+ piece orchestra using some of the BBC Ten Pieces and also having a composition created from their ideas gathered in a workshop in December.   • Proms concert

    A huge well done and congratulations to all of the musicians who took part in the Proms concert at Whittlebury Hall on 4th  February. The concert involved 110 musicians in all, including the Sponne Concert Band, Brass Band,  Jazz Orchestra, Senior Choir and visiting championship section brass band from Oxfordshire, Kidlington Concert Brass. The groups played to a packed capacity audience of over  350 people. Each group played some of their own repertoire as well as playing together as a massed band. The event showcased many talented soloists. The
