  • Jackson O'Rourke - Qualified for the Edinburgh International Swim Meet

    JACKSON O’ROURKE Year 11 CML has qualified for the Edinburgh International Swim Meet Incorporating the British Championships 2018
    This is a Qualifying Swimming Meet for the Commonwealth Games 2018

    He has qualified for the following events:
    1500 metre Freestyle
    200 metre Breaststroke
    200 metre Individual Medley
    400 metre Individual Medley

  • Mental Health Awareness Day 9th February 2018

    We all have Mental Health and sometimes we may need additional support and help with this. One thing we all need to do is raise awareness and reduce the stigma that surrounds some mental health issues.

    Next week (5th to 11th February) is Mental Health Awareness week and Friday is the Northamptonshire Mental Health Awareness day. Once again Sponne School will be supporting this by getting involved in raising awareness in our assemblies and a balloon launch. Recently Tessa Parkinson from ‘Talk Out Loud’ came to deliver our resources for the awareness day,

  • Dance Competition

    On the weekend of January 5th- 7th 2017, my twin sister and I travelled to Blackpool to compete in the National Championships for Ballroom and Latin dance. Thousands of pairs, soloists and group dancers attended. It is the largest competition in the UK. To compete here you have to qualify and to qualify you have to compete regularly in smaller competitions and earn “points.” The “points” depend on where you place in your category.  Then, you qualify to the Britain's Best if you have enough points to prove you are at

  • Polar Regions Composition Project

    Well done to Ethan Brackley for submitting beautiful subtle piece of film music to the NMPAT composing competition. It was judged 'highly commended and rank in the top 4 in the county wide competition.

  • Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

    Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, at Sponne School

    The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is in its seventh year at Sponne School. It is a nationally recognised award.

    Is looked upon favourably by employers and universities. It’s a challenge for young people aged between 14 and 24

    Each student completes a personal programme of activities in four sections usually over a year.

    Volunteering, Skill, Physical and Expedition sections, at three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

    This year I am running just Bronze and Gold levels with over 70

  • Charity Dodgeball

    Well done to 12NL for organising a Staff vs. Students Dodgeball game to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.

    The event was well attended and enjoyed by staff and students. The event raised a fantastic £326. Well done to the staff team who beat the students 2-1.

    Thank you to everyone who came to watch participated or donated.


  • THE FA PEOPLE'S CUP: It’s Everyone’s Game!

    The FA People’s Cup is a small-sided football competition, run in partnership with BBC Get Inspired. It is completely free to enter, running across the county for players ranging from U14s, through to veterans football.  Our local venue GOALS (Northampton) will be holding three events, which students may be interested in participating in;

    • U14 male (Y8/9) on Friday 23rd February, 1830-2130
    • U16 male (Y10/11) on Friday 23rd February, 1830-2130
    • 16+ male
  • Anti-Bullying Poster

    The year 7s forms had a competition for who could create the best anti-bullying poster.

    The top 4 posters were:

    Max Czerniuk, Maisie Ballinger, Faith Hawkins

    2) Isabel Heley, Emily Rogers, Tegan Doucherty-Legge, Harry Pannell, Joseph Vicars

  • Futsal

    Having received a free Futsal starter pack last term, students in Years 7 and 8 have been enjoying after school enhancement sessions in this exciting and fast-paced sport.

    Many professional footballers honed their skills on a Futsal court, including Lionel Messi, Kevin De Bruyne and Neymar!  The emphasis is on technical skill and ability, which translates across to many football competencies.

  • Boot Swap

    If you have come back after Christmas to find your football boots don’t fit READ ON.

    • Bring in your old boots – clean and in a plastic bag with the size marked on
    • Swap this for a raffle ticket
    • Look to see if there are a pair of boots you want in your size
    • Swap the raffle ticket for the boots!If you can’t find a pair then put your name on the raffle ticket and hand it in to the prize draw – one winner only -  a new pair of boots in your size
