Whats On This Term?
Autumn Term 2 2018
A very warm welcome back to Term 2 at Sponne School. We are looking forward to a busy yet rewarding term ahead.
Year 7 students have settled in well and we look forward to welcoming parents to the Year 7 Pastoral Evening on Tuesday 6th November, when you have opportunity to meet your form tutor and discuss how your child is getting on so far. The full Year 7 Parents Evenings will be held on 9th and 15th May 2019 when you can meet subject teachers and have more detailed feedback on your child’s progress. Booking details will be sent nearer the time. In the meantime you can keep up to date with behaviour and performance reports on Go4Schools.
Year 11 students are preparing for their mock exams starting in December, and I am proud of the attitude to learning they are demonstrating. I would like to thank staff for their excellent support with revision preparation and intervention sessions, and also recognise the valuable support and encouragement our students receive at home. If you have any questions or concerns about how your son or daughter is coping with the mocks please do approach your form tutor, subject teacher or head of year. There will also be a Year 11 parents evening on 10th January to discuss how the mocks went and make plans for the remainder of Year 11 and the GCSE exams.
We have an exciting programme of extra curricula events planned this term, with a Year 12 Geography trip and Year 11 German trip taking place in December. Our Year 13 students have just returned from their Uganda world youth conference and we look forward to hearing how they got on.
Sponne musicians have a busy term ahead with multiple performances in and around Towcester leading up to Christmas. The Christmas Concert will be held on Tuesday 18th December where all extracurricular music groups will be performing. Tickets are available to purchase on TUCASI, at £7 per ticket. Performing musicians have first options to purchased tickets until 26th November, after which point tickets will be released for general sale. Book tickets early to avoid disappointment as this event is always sold out!
Please keep an eye on our website, Facebook and twitter pages where sporting fixture news and other activities and achievements are updated regularly.
A quick reminder that the last day of term for students is Thursday 20th December 2018, and school reopens on Monday 7th January 2019. Term dates for 2019-20 are now available on our website.
Wishing you a successful and enjoyable term ahead.
