Overview:
For Heads, Senior school Leaders, Attendance Champions and Attendance Officers. Training is to understanding the barriers to improving school attendance.
The training is divided into 6 sections, national context, focus on expectations, examining the perceived barriers, the role of data, working with parents and putting together a toolkit.
Focus:
- Examine the principles and ethos of the new statutory guidance governing attendance and absence
- Understand the rationale behind the changes and what this means for your practice
- Increase your knowledge about what works documented in the latest research
- Breaking down the barriers both in and out of school
- Lunch is included
Session Outcomes:
- Secure knowledge and understanding of statutory responsibilities and changes
- Understanding the role of your setting in attendance improvement
- Understand that factors both in and out of school and consider strategies to address these
- Deeper knowledge of your data to inform effective practice
- Embracing the research telling us how to support parents and children best to improve attendance
- Colleagues feeling empowered and well-resourced to address and overcome barriers
