It will establish a shared understanding of “adaptive teaching” and share a range of practical strategies to support pupils to succeed (including high need students).

Focus:

·       Session 1: Why does learning frequently fail?

Alex establishes common national issues for why students typically struggle and fail to access the curriculum, such as patchy prior knowledge and working memory limitations. The session helps define adaptive teaching in response to students’ variable learning and poses practical ways forward.

·       Session 2: Why do students commonly fail to learn independently?

Alex tackles the issues of poor planning, a lack of independence and low motivation. He explores positive solutions on how to adapt tasks and teaching strategies to increase independence and offer students’ approaches for revision, homework and more.
