This training is suitable for Secondary School based Class Teachers, Teaching Assistants & SENDCos. The training session explores the nature of autism as a spectrum condition, detailing the core diagnostic features and additional differences like sensory sensitivities and anxiety. It includes interactive activities to foster empathy and understanding of autism through "unpacking the triad" and experiential exercises. Practical strategies are outlined for supporting autistic students, covering structured classroom environments, communication adaptations and social interaction facilitation. The training also examines gender differences in diagnosis and presentation, focusing on underdiagnosed groups like girls.
