Tate to Tate gallery trip Y10- 9th Nov

We had a very successful trip to both Tate galleries in London which despite a delayed home journey went very well.

The highlights of the visit were seeing the impressive paintings up close in Tate Britain and the Henry Moore sculptures, then taking the boat along the Thames to the Tate Modern and the highlight here was in the Turbine Hall- experiencing the artwork by Superflex One Two, Three– Swing!- 3 persons swings.

Congratulations to former student, Laura Simpson - who is in the starting squad for Oxford vs Cambridge Womens Match 2017.

A Massive well done and good luck to both Matthew Smith 11SC and Jackson O’Rourke 11CML for qualifying for the Swim England National Championships in Sheffield in December.

A fantastic achievement for both boys and a real acknowledgment of all the hard work that goes in at training- alongside this, both boys have an impeccable record and both 100% attendance!

Good luck boys we wish you all the luck!

Year 10 are getting into the Christmas spirit in English, with Scrooge pictures and annotations - 'Bah humbug!'

On Wednesday 18th Thursday 19th and Friday 20th October, students from Sponne School performed Beauty and the Beast to a packed house. The performance was outstanding. Some of the feedback emailed in to school following the performances sums it up:

“What a spectacle! The set, costumes, music and drama  were amazing – this was like a West End show!”

Two year 7 classes have participated in their first food lesson at Sponne School.
Some students have put great effort in to planning their creative fruit salads! Fantastic effort by all preparing their fruit creations today!

We all played very well and learnt a lot by playing amongst hard teams. We all worked really well and played some amazing games. Although we only came 5th, a few of the games were very close and only came down to one goal. We are very lucky to have been able to have the opportunity to be able to compete in theses games and will take what we have learnt into our feature matches.

On the Friday 17th November it was anti-bullying day. Students were asked to wear mufti and wear odd socks to raise awareness of this year’s theme of “All different- All equal”. There was great support of this throughout the whole school. Lauren Chapman from 8LT even created her own anti-bullying socks! There have been some excellent student led assemblies on the theme of bullying that have taken a lot of time and care to put together.
