Sponnaissance

Congratulations to Sponnaissance (our Renaissance madrigal and instrumental group) who have also been invited to perform in the CBSO centre at the  National Festival of Music for Youth on July 5th in Birmingham. The Sponne Brass Band and Jazz Orchestra are performing in the Birmingham Symphony Hall on the same day.

Congratulations also to Melody Powell and Katie Skey who have been very busy in recent weeks representing Sponne and Northamptonshire at a national and european level. In the first week of the Easter break, Melody and Katie attended the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain residential which culminated in concerts at the Dora Stoutzker Hall in Cardiff and the Yoko Ono Lennon Hall in Liverpool. They then had the opportunity to collaborate with the National Youth Orchestra, working on Gavin Higgins' 'Concerto Grosso,' a unique piece written for Orchestra and Brass Band. They performed this at both the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and the Royal Festival Hall in London, the latter being recorded by the BBC for Radio 3.

Over the May Day bank holiday, the girls had the amazing experience of accompanying Youth Brass 2000 to take part in the European Youth Brass Band Championships in Palanga, Lithuania, alongside some of the best Youth Brass Bands in Europe. Well done to all.
