Summer Term update and ongoing school closure due to Covid-19
Welcome back to the start of the Summer term, I hope you have all been able to enjoy the lovely weather during the Easter break.
Therefore 'normal' lessons have now started again using the Google Classroom platform and based on our normal school timetable (first week back is a blue week). Many of the issues that arose at the start have now been resolved and I have been really encouraged to see both students and staff engaging so positively in this remote learning before Easter. It is vital that this continues; particularly for Year 10 and 12 students, who will have less than 12 months remaining before their exams start in 2021, when we return to school. If you have any issues at all in accessing the work at home then please do let us know via subject teachers and tutors so that we can support you with this.
For Year 11 and 13 students they should now be focussed on the subjects that they plan to study in September and if there are any resources that we can provide to help with this then do make contact with individual teachers.
Can I take this opportunity to remind you that we are here to support your wellbeing as well as the learning of your son/daughter(s) and encourage you to keep in contact, to exercise, to maintain routines, especially with your sleep, and to eat a healthy diet. I will continue to keep you updated on any developments and in the meantime my very best wishes to you all.

Welcome to Sponne School
A very warm welcome to Sponne School.
It has been an excellent start to 2019 with our 232 new Year 7 students having settled into their routines really well and all other students very focussed and seemingly pleased to be back at school and learning positively. We have also welcomed a number of new students to Year 12 who have found their feet incredibly quickly and are already proving to be good role models to our younger students. We work hard to ensure that learning is at the centre of all that we do and are very proud of the achievements of our current and past students.
Sponne is a vibrant learning environment and we encourage all of our students to actively engage in all that we offer. We strive to provide an engaging and reflective school culture based upon five key values and skills; achievement, leadership, collaboration, learning and social responsibility. Each of these contributes to our ethos of 'Inspiring Achievement', though our students have translated this into an ethos of ‘Dream, Believe, Achieve’. Many events take place in addition to our ‘normal’ planned lessons and details for some of these can be found on our website.
Sponne is a popular and first choice school locally. Although quite a while ago now, we had an Ofsted visit in October 2012 and we were very pleased with the outcomes: inspectors judged Sponne to be an Outstanding School. The inspection team also found student achievement, the quality of teaching and leadership and management to be outstanding. We were delighted with the outcome and the report can be found on our website. However, we have not been complacent and we continue to work on improving the wellbeing of our students whilst ensuring that the progress of their learning is maintained. The students at GCSE continue to achieve incredibly well and including this summer’s examinations, the school has now had 9 years of very high attainment and progress; the students did incredibly well and I am very pleased for them. I believe that our school is an excellent community of learning where students thrive on success.
I hope that you will find helpful information on our website but do contact us if you would like any further details.
