A very hot but fabulous day with our KS1 Cluster Schools, Silverstone, Greens Norton, Blakesley, Towcester, Nicholas Hawksmoor and Marie Weller.

200 children took part in our KS1 festival.  We had 60 leaders that were amazing with the children, leading them, coaching them, cheering them on, playing with them, encouraging them when things got tough and of course...taking them to the toilet!!

Well done everyone who took part.

On Tuesday 30th April Sponne had a fantastic day of girls rugby at Daventry Rugby Club.

We took 12 girls to take part in a leaders event. In June they will then lead coaching sessions and referee Primary Schools at Northampton Saints very own Franklin Gardens!

Thank you Dave Hanson and England Rugby for organising such a wonderful opportunity.

On 2nd May Sponne attended the Dynamo's Cricket event run by our fabulous Sponne leaders who coached, umpired, encouraged, cheered and entertained Y4/5s from our local cluster schools. The children played brilliantly showing talent and team spirit all afternoon. Congratulations to Silverstone our overall winners - well done everyone!

Two weeks ago, our U13s fantastic county cup football run came to an end in a Semi-Final defeat to NSB.

The first half was largely even, with both teams having chances. Our goal came from fantastic pressing from Leo B (8RW) forcing the opposition back line into an error, giving Charlie T (7CML) the opportunity to score a wonderful goal from distance. At half time, the score 2-1, the match was finely balanced, both teams knowing the next goal was crucial. Unfortunately for us, a goal from a corner gave NSB the initiative, who then took a stronghold from the game, from another set piece goal. At 4-1 we continued to work hard, and create chances, but they held firm, and progressed to the final.

It has been a fantastic run from this side all season, and all players involved have been a real credit to themselves and the school. With thanks to our officiating team; man in the middle Gabe O (13MT) and his assistants Will O (13VH) and Will J (11SJA).

A stunning away victory for our U13 boys footballers against Prince William School. Another clean sheet off the back of the 2-0 win, home to KCC, in the previous cup match. It was a really good all round performance from the squad, particularly the first half where Sponne strode to a 3-0 lead. The effort levels were excellent in all areas of the pitch and adding in the quality 'on the deck' passing meant PWS couldn't really compete.

3 great goals, a far post header from Leo B, and two sweet strikes from the edge of the area from Ethan B and Oscar M. Other notable performances were from Arrain S, Tom D, Alex B and Jake S-F. It was also really pleasing to hear encouragement from all the senior players throughout.

Hard work paying off at training sessions for this group; consistently high numbers are committed every Wednesday!

Next up for this squad, a County Cup Semi-Final against NS

Huge Congratulations once again to the U18 Netball Squad who recently took part in the East Midlands Regional Finals at Oundle. This was a tough day of Netball with some very close games against solid opposition.

Results were as follows: Rushcliffe College - 14-14, Ratcliffe - 10-12, Ecclesbourne 17-9, Stamford 13-10. After finishing 3rd in the pool of 6 Sponne were playing for the Regional Plate Title with the first game against Lincoln Priory. This performance was one of the most impressive of the day.

The Team pulled together and played with real flare with the final result being 17-11. This result put Sponne in the Final of the Plate Competition against a dynamic West Bridgford team. Final game of the day saw a 17-11 result with Sponne being awarded Runner Up of the Regional Plate. Congratulations.

On Thursday 1st February, our U13 boys football team won 2-0 against Kingsthorpe College in the County Cup and now progress into the next round. The score line doesn't reflect the performance, and the amount of chances we had. Fantastic effort from everyone involved.

Thanks to Gabe O (13MT) for providing his services to referee once again, Harry G (8JDG) for volunteering to be his assistant. It was also pleasing to have a number of Year 8 students come out and show their support, with impeccable conduct throughout!

We are immensely proud of all the Sponne  leaders and thank you to our Primary schools for coming.
